Annoyance is a universal language.

Blake, Blake, Blake... yeah, she's a fave of mine. That said, she can be kind of frustrating to work with in the early volumes, since she doesn't really open up to either the others or the audience until she absolutely needs to. Making her japanese was partially because, well, ninja jokes and whatnot, but also sort of an excuse for her to be relatively quiet at the start. I do hope I'm not writing her too problematically...

Some people just don’t feel a need to say a lot, and prefer to be quiet. Others have a lot to say and simply choose to be cautious about it for whatever reasons and so carefully self edit before they wind up saying anything, occasionally missing the chance to and so say nothing.

And others just enjoy acting mysterious, quiet and aloof because they think it makes them seem cool. Whether it works or not, I cannot say. And probably dozens of other reasons why someone simply IS quiet. In the end, sometimes a person just doesn’t like answering every little question and just prefers to keep quiet.

Though pretty sure part of Blake’s player’s deal beyond perhaps agitation with the continued ninja comparison is her already shown insecurity with her (presumably as she may know others) second language and the anxiety such, especially in an environment where everyone seems talk-talk-talk, tends to breed.

"So how did Blake land?"
"On her feet."

I can't tell if that's a linguistic disconnect, an intentional joke on the player's part, or both. I love it.
